House Museum “On the trail of the Habsburgs”
The Kaisergasthof hotel and restaurant in the town of Weyregg was once an imperial postal station, and has been in the family since 1888. Owner Georg Eichhorn is a passionate collector of items from the royal and imperial past, and has transformed ‘his’ post office into a nostalgic jewel, which has even been listed in the Upper Austria Museums Guide. Inside the Kaisergasthof, the lovingly presented collectors’ items are more than decoration – they become reality! You can see more than 300 original pieces from the imperial era. These allow a glimpse into the ceremonial life of the court, and include paintings, posters, dispatches, signs, original telegrams from Crown Prince Rudolf to his father, original envelopes handwritten by the daughters of Emperor Franz Joseph I, court programs and court death notices, programs for the visit of His Majesty William II – German Emperor and King, various imperial and royal uniforms, busts, swords and a range of objects from the Habsburg family and their surrounds.
